Splitting Railroad Rail with Simple Tools

After seeing a random video of someone splitting train rail by scoring then whacking it with a hammer, I had to give it a try. Fortunately for me, there's been a couple pieces of rail sitting in a grass strip by a business in my neighborhood for 14+ years. Though the business moved I asked them if they knew anything about the rails. They said "no" and I should have at it. We used some Diablo metal cutting blades, a bit of water, then a sledge hammer and made pretty short work of it. We took two 3' chunks home that we'll probably use in the garden but have seen more capable folks make anvils out of these. Thanks for watching!
